High blood pressure (hypertension)

Hypertension is a common disease characterized by raised blood pressure in arteries. It is defined as systolic blood pressure at 140mmHg or high, and/or diastolic blood pressure at 90mmHg or higher. Hypertension is a serious health problem that can lead to heart attack and stroke. In some hypertension patients there is no obvious symptom. High blood pressure can be easily detected. Once you know that you have high blood pressure, you can control it with medication.
