Sepsis

Sepsis is an acute systemic infection caused by growth of bacteria in circulation blood. The onset is often rapid. Mild cases only have general infection symptoms. Severe cases have septic shock and multiple organ failure. It can be life-threatening. Prognosis is very poor for the elderly, children, chronic diseases patients, immune-compromised persons, patients not treated timely or those with complications. Early treatment usually uses antibiotics and intravenous infusion to increase the chance of survival. If there are purulent lesions, it should be drained in time, in addition to antibiotic treatment.
